We think Christmas should be easier than it's become
Somewhere along the way, Christmas turned into a logistics exercise. Ordering the tree. Hauling the greenery. Hoovering needles off the stairs before anyone's even arrived.
None of that is the part you remember. The part you remember is the room looking right when everyone walks in.
That's what we make things for.
It started with a garland that lasted eleven days
The first Christmas in our house, we bought real cedar for the mantel because it seemed like the proper thing to do. It looked beautiful for a week and a half. By the middle of December it was dropping needles into the fireplace, the ends had gone the colour of weak tea, and we'd started angling the good side toward the door so visitors wouldn't notice.
So the next year we bought artificial instead, and it was worse in a different way. Flat, shiny, one shade of green all the way along, obviously plastic the moment a warm lamp hit it. It went back in the box after two days and we didn't take it out again.
We started Jingle&Pines because there didn't seem to be anything in between: greenery that looked genuinely real, held up all season, and didn't need replacing every year. It took a lot of samples before we found it.
We're a family business, and we sell one thing: Christmas. Not homeware with a seasonal range bolted on for six weeks. Just Christmas, all year round, done properly.
The room should look like someone cared. You shouldn't have to spend all December proving it.
What we hold ourselves to
Every piece has to pass the same test: does it look real from across the room, and does it still look right in three years?That means we turn a lot of things down. Most artificial greenery is flat, uniformly coloured and obviously plastic under warm light. Ours is layered — varied needle lengths, two-tone greens, bendable wire cores that hold whatever shape you give them.We test the boring parts too. Whether it packs flat. Whether it comes out next December looking the way it went in.
Decorations that come back out every year
We're not going to tell you a plastic garland saves the planet. What we will tell you is this: a real cut garland is brown by New Year and in the bin by the second week of January. Ours goes back in its box and comes out looking the same.
Ten Decembers from one purchase is a smaller footprint than ten trips to the tree lot, and a smaller bill too. That's the honest version of our environmental case, and it's the one we'd rather make.
